Lindsey Fascinator with Veil

Todays choice is the Lindsey Fascinator with birdgage veil. It is a simple design, packed with details. The sinamay rose is hand dyed in varigated shades of blush pinks in this shot, feather plume, and a dotted veil. The comforable headband makes it no fuss and ideal for socializing. The "Rose" design is Kentucky Derby inspired, but great in any occassion. We make is custom in many colors, so call for special requests. "Disc"y Business

I am often asked "what are the trends", which is interesting to answer when you are one of the designers setting the trends. I recently read something that made it quite clear to me that my success with these designs last year, are being talked about as a "trend" this year. The Disc. I had so much fun making these in many styles that we are back at it again this year. I love the Disc because it is a cross over from headpiece to mini hat and we make them on a comb or headband in 100's of colors. Easy to wear and still somewhat of a traditional "covered head".

Lime Hats for Spring, Kentucky Derby, Easter etc.

I had to start today's blog with "Lime" since it's St. Patrick's Day, and for me the start of spring time festivities. Lime is the perfect color for fresh breath of springiness. Lime pairs well with just about any neutral and can actually add some "lift" to heavy colors like black or navy.

Kentucky Derby Hat Decisions ....start with COLOR!

Each year I create and design new custom hats for those who love to reinvent themselves every Derby. We talk to 100's of ladies each week who all want to look good come Derby Day and we realize that not eveyone can or wants to spring for a custom hat. Having been online and outfitting women in Derby hats for 17 years, I have learned that women want that unique look, so how you "put it all together" really counts. If someone is just starting to get an idea of what to wear, it can be extremely overwhelming. Getting it right, sometimes paralyzes them from a decision. Therefore, I usually start with a COLOR direction, since most women know what color they want to wear, look good in, or are gravitated toward. Once we know that, we can either match, blend, or compliment with styles that PIVOT off that color or colors.

Haute Headpieces

I can't say enough about my love for headpieces. I wouldn't say I prefer them over the traditional hat, but I LOVE them as a lighter option, especially on a long day spent in close quarters. For the past several years we have been diving in "head first" on them. Clients will sometimes tell me they get a headache from a hat and just can't wear them...well, Ooohla, the headpiece enters and the problem is solved in perfect fashion.

Spring Color Trends-Derby Hats

Spring is in the Air...and so is the planning for 2011 Derby Hats. Each year, people ask me a few of the same questions.
Here is the focus of one.
"What are this years trends?".
My Answer:
I will address this part of my answer in todays blog based on COLOR!
I look strongly at color trends as designers, and their dresses, shoes, and handbags, will be using these colors. We must have hats and fascinators to support those color trends. Don't get me wrong, some colors are ALWAYS in style, but here is a nice pallette of hues that I will be spring boarding off of this season. Shown here, in hat form, are the "Coraly Oranges" that I love- and the fashion world can't get enough of. My other favorite the "Regatta Blue"...looks good on almost anyone blonde, brunnette, redhead, grey, and this year... oh so Royal!

With only 86 days and counting until the royal nuptials...we just can't seem to get enough of Kate. I personally am hoping that all her savy sense of style gets
the right royal treatment. I personally love the "black saucer" shown here on her. I have added even more saucer's to my 2011 Collection. I have always loved them, and now I have Kate to thank for paving the way for less brave souls who haven't ventured out from the traditional hat.
